My contractor called me just few minutes ago that they want to start the digging on Thursday. I am kind excited since I planed this almost 1 year ago and be delayed for so long because of my part time Architect.
Project goal:
1. add 1500 sf to current 1900sf one level single family house.
2. change kitchen location to the new addition and double the size.
3. Replace old roof and siding.
4. Change landscaping in the front and back yard.
Project time line:
1. April 2007 to Nov. 2007 Preparing plan and design.
2. Dec, 2007 send plan to city planning department and got approved.
3. Jan, 2008 Send building plan to city building dept. for review and got approved.
4. Feb, 2008 Interview 4 contractors and finally pick one for foundation and framing.
5. March 27, 2008 project starts.
6. October, 2008 Finish the project. (hopefully).
Project Challenge:
1. I didn’t hire a general contractor since I have limited budget and don’t want to waste my money on it.
2. The new kitchen is in the back and may have issue with the sewage.
3. Want to replace my current tank water heater with tankless but don’t know if it is reliable or not.
4. During the remolding, my family will still live there. We mayn’t have kitchen for a while.
Anyway, I just want to use this place to record whatever I do for my project and hopefully I still have time to update here at least once a week.
